History
Naturally, an abundance of resources attracted settlers to the area in the 1800s. Surveyors for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad encountered 3 lakes which foiled the planned straight line north to high timberlands. This set back is responsible for the supply station being erected and was appropriately called "3 Lakes". This station became an active point for loggers as well as farmers. The community of Three Lakes began to thrive in October, 1881 when the combination store and post office was built by Mr. Cahman.
